Caracci, Augusto (b. 1873, d. 12 MAR 1947)
Note: Per Antoinetta Fietta Porreca, Augusto Caracci (her stepfather) metGiulia Basile Faieta (her mother) while both were living in thevicinity of the Italian Market in Philadelphia. Giulia had moved therewith her children after her husband Antonio Faieta died in 1910 whilethey were living in Steubenville, OH. Per Albert's recollection,Giulia lived in property owned by the Palumbo family at 9th andChristian streets. This is probably the boarding house that waslocated at 822 Christian St. Antoinetta related to her son, Albert, that Augusto had lived in a town just outside of Rome, and also thatAugusto had relatives that worked in the Vatican. There was a familystory (unverified) that Augusto left Italy because he had killed aneighbor (the father of a young girl he courted) and subsequentlyserved time in an italian prison. There was also a family story thatAugusto saw Guilia while shopping one day, then followed her home, knocked on the door and told her he wanted to marry her.

The Ellis Island records show the arrival of an Augusto Caracci, 35yrs old, aboard the ship Vincenzo Florio from Naples on March 24,1908. The manifest shows his town of origin as Velletri (which is justoutside of Rome). He is able to read and write.
This individual is almost certainly the same Augusto Caracci as theage corresponds, and the town of origin agrees with Antoinetta'sstatement that he was from a town just outside of Rome. Otherpassengers adjacent on the manifest, also from Velletri, includeGilberto Bottachiori 31 yo, Francesco DiMasi 37 yo, Santo Scalzo 31yo. All were going to visit Sesto Rossi at 743 So. 9th StreetPhiladelphia.
