Note: Giovanni and Carmina Antonia Teti also had a daughter (?name) whomarried Berardino di Cino (Berardino was a witness to Carmina'sdeath). Giovanni resided with his son Domenicantonio at the time ofDomenicantonio's marriage in 1835.

documents appears to be a survey of the state of the sacraments
(Christening, Confirmation, Communion) in the households of the town
in about 1887. Possibly in preparation for a visit to the town from
the Bishop who would administer sacraments. Digital image copies of
the Porreca and Teti families' documents were obtained by Albert
Porreca Jr. in 1999.

Oh my!! I'm so sorry about the confusion about I've caused you, about
the
parents of Giovanni Porreca! I've done some additional checking
through the
indexes to death, marriage, and processetti [i.e. marriage act]
records I've
made, and have found some information that may or may not shed some
light on the
situation. Don't know how much of the following information you may
already
have:
1. 1831 Marriage records, entry # 11, marriage date: 14 Apr 1831
Groom = Giovanni Porreca, age 61, a farmer, the son of Adamo Porreca
and
Angela d'Ambrosio. The groom's paternal grandfather was Michele
Porreca. Groom's
previous wife was Carmina Teti, who died 9 Sept 1830. Groom was
baptized on
20 Feb. 1770. Groom's mother, Angela d'Ambrosio, died on 16 Apr 1796
at age
60 yrs. Angela's spouse was Adamo Porreca, from Gesso. Her parents
were
Nicola d'Ambrosio and Alexandra Aspromonte.
Bride = Maria Nicola Antonia Teti, age 43, the daughter of Rosario
Teti and
Antonia Piccoli. Bride's previous husband was Domenico diCino, who
died 8 Oct
1829.
[Al--I just realized that Giovanni Porreca's new bride is a sister to
my
ancestor, Carmine Antonio Teti!! Interesting, isn't it???]
2. 1830 death record: [Giovanni Porreca's first wife]
Carmina Teti died on 9 Sept. 1830 at age 60 years. Her spouse was
Giovanni
Porreca. Her parents were Domenicantonio Teti and Eusebia diMarino.
Carmina's
death was reported by her son in law, Berardino diCino and by her
brother in
law, Giuseppe Peschi. [Note: Berardino diCino is Jeri Fuller's 4th
g-grandfather--that's how I got involved in all this in the first
place.]
3. 1832 death record: [I think this is Giovanni Porreca's sister]
Rosaria Porreca, died on 23 Feb 1832 at age 60 years. Her spouse was
Giuseppe Peschi. Her parents were Adamo Porreca and Angela
d'Ambrosio. Rosaria's
death was reported by her son, Vincenzo Peschi, and by her brother in
law,
Angelo Mancini.
4. 1849 death record: [I think this is Giovanni Porreca's brother]
Michele Porreca died on 21 Apr 1849 at age 85 yrs. His spouse was
Rosa
Antrilli. His parents were Adamo Porreca and Angela d'Ambrosio.
Michele's death
was reported by his nephew, Pietro Antrilli, and by his son, Giuseppe
Porreca.
5. 1830 death record: [not sure if he is related to Giovanni
Porreca]
Pietrantonio Porreca died on 3 Sept 1830 at age 46 yrs. His spouse
was Anna
Pugliese. His parents were Adamo Porreca and Caterina Teti. No
relationships listed for people who reported his death.
6. 1844 death record: [appears to be a sister to Pietrantonio
Porreca]
Felicita Porreca died 20 Jan 1844 at age 57 yrs. Her spouse was Carlo
Antrilli. Her parents were Adamo Porreca and Caterina [no last name
given].
Felicita's death was reported by her brothers in law, Carmine Antrilli
and Pietro
Antrilli.
7. 1815 processetti [marriage act - the same one Piera found and sent
to
you, and appears to be the same person as listed in the above death
record]
Felicitas Antonia Porreca was born 29 May 1795. Her parents were
Adamo
Porreca and Catharina Teti. At the time of Felicitas' marriage, her
father, Adamo,
was dead. He died 8 Sept 1800, at age 41 yrs. His spouse was
Catharina
Teti. His parents were Giovanni Camillo Porreca and Felicita Rossi.
Felicita
Rossi was from Montenero.
So--based on the above records, on the surface of things, it appears
there
could be two separate families:

Parents = Adamo Porreca [from Gesso] and Angela d'Ambrosio
Children = Michele Porreca, born about 1764
Giovanni Porreca, bapt. 20 Feb 1770

Al, normally the Torricella Peligna families fall together pretty
easily, but
every now and then there's a tough situation, like this one. When I
received
your message yesterday, my initial guess was that there was only one
Adamo
Porreca and he married twice, first to Angela d'Ambrosio and then to
Caterina
Teti. And that's still a possibility, since I have known situations
in the
marriage acts where the wrong baptism or burial records are copied as
part of the
marriage process.
So--good luck!! I'll be interested to know what you dig up as you
research
all this further!

Text: OK, early Christmas present - here's what I found:
1) Angela Porreca died March 30, 1926 in Torricella, age 76
2) Rosa Ficca, born June 18, 1856, died Dec. 24, 1888 (married Oct.
15, 1874)
3) Giacinta di Marco, born June 25, 1860, died April 14, 1899 (
married March 31, 1889, not Feb. 17, 1889). Father Luigi.
I had her mother as Filomena Crivelli, which may have been my mistake.
But I found only several Filomena Ficcas as women born from 1837 to
1844 - no Filomena Crivellis at all. What do you have?
4) Maria Giuseppa Teti, born Feb. 6, 1874, died April 21, 1943
(married Nov. 4, 1899). Parents were Rosario Teti and Maria Luigia
Tavani.
Some of this you have:
1) Mariano born dec. 30, 1910, married to Italina Croce January 18,
1930
2) Maria born April 10, 1903
3) Filomena born March 28, 1914 in Hazelton, PA
4) Nicola - can't find
There were no children born (that I could find) from 1899 through
1902.
Former husbands of the wives I will have to find at the Archivio in
Chieti when I go next week, plus Mariano's military record.
Other info:
1) soprannome - Chisse di Cruvello - family of Franchino Teti
- Chisse di Amadi - family of Ersilia Piccone
(this is Elio Porreca's grandmother who just died at 92 years (husband
was Porreca)
2) the Contrada name of Purgatoio is CORRECT. Purgatorio is NOT.
Please change. In fact, according to Pietro Ottobrini at the Comune,
we should not be using Frazioni for ANY of those areas we have listed
on the site (I was right - HA), including Fallascoso. ALL of them
should be listed as Contradas. You can wait and talk with Dan about
this before changing anything, but this is what he told me.

1888. Angelo married Giacinta March 31, 1889, and Luigi was born
