Specialization
Italian to English
I do both verbal interpretation and written
translations and have much experience as an interpreter/translator
extending back for over 30 years, with a deep understanding of the Italian
language and Italian medicine.
My experience as a translator
and interpreter dates from the 1970’s, when I lived and worked in Italy
for 10 years, married into an Italian family, becoming fluent in Italian
and an expert in the various fields as listed.
Education I have
qualifications both in England and in Italy including
- Biochemistry B.Sc. (University College London, 1964)
- Medicine M.B.,B.S. (University College Hospital Medical School, London, 1969)
- Medicina Laurea (Naples, 1973)
- Specialisation – TB & Chest Diseases (Naples, 1975).
Background & Experience
I was a Medical Practitioner
in both England and Italy between 1969 and 1989, but then had to take
early retirement from Medicine because of disabilities following a car
accident. This has allowed me, on the other hand, to concentrate more on
translation works since 1989.
Having been an interpreter
and translator whilst living in Italy, both individually and at
multinational conferences, I continued to do translation work whilst
practicing Medicine in the UK. Now, in my retirement from Medicine, I
enjoy translating an ever wider variety of materials, including letters,
articles, scientific papers and books, covering many subjects, including
archaeology, arts & culture, geography, history, literature, medicine,
pharmaceuticals and sciences.
