Giornata Dedicata allo Sport

Il 22 giugno è stata una splendida giornata sia come clima, una giornata tersa e di un azzurro limpido, che come eventi organizzati dalla Pro Loco.

Già dalla mattina presto si vedeva un fermento nel paese; ci si preparava alla giornata dedicata allo sport ed in particola alla corsa podistica.  La mattina alle ore 11 c'è stato un incontro per parlare dell'alimentazione dello sportivo nelle zone di montagna.  In questa sede il maratoneta e campione Alberico Di Cecco ha rappresentato la sua esperienza, essendo nato e cresciuto a Fara San

Martino.  Ha invitato tutti a continuare ad alimentarsi secondo le nostre abitudini, ma riducendo i quantitativi; lo stesso Di Cecco ha affermato che la nostra dieta mediterranea favorisce qualsiasi attività fisica.

 

Nel pomeriggio sono iniziate le gare podistiche partendo dai piccolissimi fino ad arrivare alle 17 alla gara agonistica che vedeva impegnato anche Di Cecco oltre al Sindaco Tiziano Teti, molti assessori e consiglieri comunali, il presidente della Proloco Antonio Di Fabrizio e tanti altri associati; chiaramente erano presenti anche associazioni podistiche di altri comuni. 

 

Insomma è riuscita una bellissima manifestazione all'insegna del divertimento, dello sport inteso come momento per stare insieme senza quell'agonismo estremo.  Le belle vie di Torricella erano invase da magliette di tutti i colori ed è stato bello fermarsi in un punto e guardare passare questi uomini o donne stanchi, sudati, ansimanti ma felici di partecipare.

 

La serata è proseguita con la proiezione della partita (Italia-Spagna Euro 2008) su un maxi schermo in pinetina e con una bella cena all'aperto, di questo però non posso essere testimone perchè appena dopo l'arrivo della gara podistica sono ripartito per casa (a Chieti).

 

Voglio solo trasmettere una mia sensazione che è quella di un paese che piano piano sta ritrovando la voglia di mettersi in mostra, di riprendere il posto che le compete di "prima donna" nel contesto territoriale dell'Alto Sangro e non solo.

Sono le 16,09 e solo adesso ho trovato il tempo di collegarmi al forum.  Avevo promesso di raccontarvi la giornata del 22 giugno, e lo volevo fare ieri sera, ma la stanchezza ha colpito me, e tutti noi della Pro Loco.  Verso la mezzanotte, dopo aver pulito la piazza e la pinetina, ci siamo salutati con la soddisfazione, leggibile nei nostri occhi, che ci ha regalata una così splendida giornata.  Ringrazio Mario Di Fabrizio (conosciuto solo ieri) per avermi sostituito nel compito di raccontare questa giornata; lo ha fatto in maniera splendida, carpendo quelle sensazioni che hanno dato il senso di ciò che questa manifestazione voleva esprimere.

 

Appena possibile cercheremo di farvi vedere il report del convegno, realizzato da Davide Di Fabrizio, che è riuscito in maniera totale, sia coinvolgendo la popolazione in argomenti interessanti, e sia per il contatto con l'assessorato allo sport della Provincia di Chieti, visto che insieme lavoreremo per la realizzazione dei famosi percorsi per mountan bike.  Dopo abbiamo pranzato a Capè dove è proseguito lo scambio di idee con gli ospiti del convegno.  Approfitto per ringraziare la famiglia Di Sangro per la totale ospitalità che ci ha offerto. 

 

Per quanto riguarda la serata che Mario non ha potuto seguire, vi dico solo che anche in questo caso si è svolta all'insegna della più profonda convivenza sociale.  Mi piacerebbe raccontarvi tutti i dettagli, ma oggi abbiamo un nemico che si chiama "tempo"; pensate che mercoledì, il 25 giugno, dobbiamo andare in stampa con tutto il materiale cartaceo per la pubblicità del grande evento del 18 e 19 luglio, “Arte, Muscia & Gusto”.  Capirete il dafare che abbiamo; quindi vi saluto ed appena possibile vi aggiorneremo sui dettagli relativi ad “Arte, Musica & Gusto”.

Day Dedicated to Sport

June 22nd was a fabulous day with events organized by the Pro Loco accompanied by clear, blue skies.  In the morning there was already excitement in the air.  The town was preparing for this day dedicated to sport, and in particular to a running race.  At 11am there was a conference where they discussed sport nutrition in mountainous areas.  Alberico Di Cecco, a marathon champion and native of nearby Fara San Martino, talked about his experiences.  He encouraged everyone to continue eating in the traditional Italian way, but in reduced quantities; he asserted that our Mediterranean diet is conducive to physical activity. 

 

In the afternoon the running races began, starting with very young children and ending at 5pm with a race that included Di Cecco, Mayor Tiziano Teti, council members, Pro Loco President Antonio Di Fabrizio and many others.  The running clubs of many other towns also participated. 

 

It was a truly wonderful event demonstrating that sport does not need to involve extreme competitiveness; it can be fun and help bring people together.  The lovely streets of Torricella were filled with jerseys of all colors.  I enjoyed stopping in one spot and observing men and women go by, exhausted, sweaty and breathing heavily, but content to be participating in the event. 

 

In the evening the Euro 2008 quarter-final soccer match between Italy and Spain was shown on a mega-screen in the small pinewood park and a big outdoor dinner was served; unfortunately, I cannot report on this event because I had to return home to Chieti right after the last race. 

 

I simply want to convey the feeling I got of a town that is gradually discovering that it wants to play a significant role, that it wants to regain its position as a showcase for the Alto Sangro territory and beyond.

It is 4:09 pm, and I am finally finding time to connect to the Torricella Yahoo Group.  I had promised to report on the events of June 22nd, and I wanted to do it last night, but fatigue hit me and all the other members of the Pro Loco.  Around midnight, after cleaning the square and the small pinewood park, we said goodnight, very satisfied on how the day had gone, as was evidenced by the glances we gave each other.  I would like to thank Mario Di Fabrizio (who I met for the first time yesterday) for taking my role in reporting the day’s events; he did so fabulously, conveying sensations that get to the heart of what this event was all about.  

 

As soon as possible, we will try to provide you with a report on a very successful conference organized by Davide Di Fabrizio, which involved the local population in interesting themes.  The sports commission for the Province of Chieti also attended; this was very important because we will be working together with him to create mountain bike trails.  We then had lunch at the Hotel Capè where we continued to exchange ideas with the conference guests.  I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the Di Sangro family of the Hotel Capè for extending their gracious hospitality to us.    

 

Regarding the evening event that Mario could not attend, I would simply like to say that it was another demonstration of profound social togetherness.  I would like to give you all the details, but we are faced with an enemy called “time” today; just think that on Wednesday, June 25th, we have to publish all the material related to the event being held on July 18th and 19th, “Arte, Musica & Gusto” (Art, Music and Flavors).  You must imagine how much pressure we are under; so I send my regards, and as soon as possible, I will give you more details related to “Arte, Musica & Gusto”.
