RECENSIONE DEL LIBRO “LA CHIESA DI SAN GIACOMO”

Il libro “La Chiesa di San Giacomo”, edito dalla casa editrice Rivista Abruzzese, è il primo testo di storia documentata riguardante Torricella. “La Chiesa di San Giacomo” è il risultato di un lavoro di ricerca durato circa due anni e compiuto in alcune biblioteche e presso gli archivi laicali e religiosi di Napoli, Chieti e Lanciano. Il periodo storico considerato comprende circa sette secoli (XII-XIX sec.) in cui l’attore principale è la “San Giacomo” (l’edificio più antico di Torricella) ma, come sappiamo molto bene, in un paese con profonde radici cristiane le vicende storiche di una chiesa madre si intessano con la storia della comunità locale e paesana. Infatti, attraverso l’elaborazione di dati raccolti si è riusciti e a documentare la nascita dei quartieri storici “Le Coste”, “Calacroce” e il “Corso” comprendendo, in questo modo, lo sviluppo urbano subito nel corso di questi secoli da Torricella; datare i monumenti più significativi come la Torre Campanaria e la facciata in pietra locale della chiesa, ecc. Inoltre, all’inizio della trattazione si sono fatte anche due ipotesi accreditabili e molto interessanti sulle origini del paese di Torricella.

Guardare indietro per ottimizzare il presente e pensare al futuro cercando di non commettere gli stessi errori dei propri antenati…La conoscenza è l’aspetto di fondo per valorizzare il proprio territorio attraverso i monumenti, la natura, il folklore, le tradizione e altro…L’autore Antonio Di Renzo, ha sviluppato un prezioso lavoro per la nostra comunità anche se lui stesso dice con molta modestia di non essere uno storico di professione. REVIEW OF THE BOOK "THE CHURCH OF ST JAMES '

The book "The Church of St. James', published by the magazine publisher Abruzzo, is the first text on Torricella of recorded history. "The Church of St. James" is the result of a research project lasted about two years and done in some libraries and in the archives of Naples lay and religious, Lanciano and Chieti.
