Dear Mancini,
I have pleasure in informing you that with the Decree of 20th December 1979 published in the B.U.A.M.(Official Air Force Military Bulletin) 1980, Despatch No. 5 of 1st March 1980, the Minister of Defence has conferred on the late-lamented Captain Luigi Mancini the (posthumous) Gold Medal of Aeronautic Merit “in his memory”.
In expressing in the name of the entire Airforce, the warmest feelings of gratitude and deference towards the memory of the late-lamented Officer, I wish to inform you that the award of the Diploma and relative badge (medal) will soon take place as a solemn ceremony on the occasion of a national holiday or a solemn military event.
