Canzonetta d'autunno (A Song of Autumn)

I colori dell'autunno
rosa giallo ocra marrone
ed un verde che si smuore
come i canti dentro il cuore.

I colori dell'autunno
amaranto viola azzurro
un bel grigio di metallo
ed un rosa di corallo.

La del prato nel languore
scende calmo un cacciatore
la del lago nella brezza
sfila lenta una barchetta.

Una dolce tenerezza
vien dai manti forti e arditi
e ristanno in cuor sopiti
il rancore e la tristezza.

The colours of Autumn
Rose yellow brown ochre
And a green that that grows pale
Like the songs in one’s heart.

The colours of Autumn
Amaranth blue violet
A lovely metallic grey
And a coral rose.

There from the meadow in the languor
Descends a calm huntsman
There from the lake in the breeze
A boat goes slowly.

A sweet tenderness
Comes from the strong and ardent mountains
And rancour and sadness
Stay within soothed hearts.
