Poesie - Lelio Porreca

Poesia semplice dell’alpinista

“Amore. Fiocco di bambagia calante
sull’aiuola del sogno mio…”.

Questa non è poesia,
Poesia è il fischio del vento
spezzato dalle rupi

Poesia sono il bene la forza il dolore;

Simple Poetry of the Alpinist

“Love. Cotton-wool flake settling
On the flower bed of my dream….”

This is not poetry.
Poetry is the whistle of the wind
Broken up by the cliffs
The wolf’s howl
Scattered by the storm
The far off prayer of my woman.

Poetry is the squeaking of the door of the refuge
The tapping of the karabiner on the wall
The chiaroscuro of the rope by the fireplace.

Poetry is the peaks of the mountains
Polished by the snows
The shadows of the clouds
On the slide of the screes
The valleys that I shall see tomorrow
Smiling at the new sun which invades them.

And my hands are poetry
Naked with wounds
Already opened by the rocks in the morning.

Poetry is good, strength, pain;
Passions larger than us are poetry.
And love is poetry
When it reveals itself in purity
Like the star
That lies above the mountaintop.
