Poesie - Lelio Porreca

Row, row, sailor, For there aren’t any fishes; It seems like a jolly ring-a-ring-a-roses, But what a huge sadness there is within you!
Go over the sea slowly, slowly; The fishing smacks of yesteryear Where are they? The heart listens to A mysterious cry from the earth.
Behold: and look at the countryside The villages and the hills And, over there, the mountain: That ripples with edelweiss!
So many people have gone away Both from the plain and from the mountain; Row, row slowly: “The sun is smiling on the horizon”…
