Poesie - Lelio Porreca

Death of the Poppies
There are two streams in the green meadow With hundreds and hundreds of red poppies That bow a thousand times on the deep ditches Rocking themselves with sweet laments.
In the evening the streams sing with joy The flowers on the sides of the banks are dead But their blood is there, high in the mountain, Closer to the sky than to the countryside.
